I love Christmas and I looooooove Christmas carols, they have a way of making you actually feel the Christmas spirit, and like Scrooge in Dickens’ A Christmas carol , you are forced to feel the spirit of Christmas. I have been humming Deck the halls For those of you who did not read the book as a kid growing up, thank God, there is a movie on it now, GO SEE IT! I bet we all have our favourite carols, I have quite a number, but I have a special thing for Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, I like the message that what seemed like an anomaly to the other reindeers was what made Rudolph special to Santa. Okay, I know sound like a kid, but that’s the only way to truly enjoy Christmas, letting your inner child feel the joy and excitement and for those of you reading this and have not heard the carol, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, WHERE D HECK DID YOU GROW UP, MARS?
Anyways, back to my darling reindeer, Rudolph, the carol opens our eyes to see that we have something special in us all, and to the untrained eyes, our uniqueness sometimes might seem like an anomaly, but all we need is our own Santa which could be anyone, to help us and others appreciate our unique abilities. Or like my muse, Salome would put it , “our imperfections are actually what makes us perfect” So, I am dedicating this piece to Rudolph, and I most certainly am not talking about the reindeer, rather I am talking about all of you who are letting your spirits be dampened by some imperfections or some nasty experience, you still have enough time to turn it around and enjoy the season, cos if you don’t make that move to be happy this season, no one can do it for you.
I also love Christmas trees and all its trimmings, kinda makes the Christmas spirit just grow and seem to have a face. Quite close to my house is a beautifully decorated roundabout (and yes, it is correct English for a circular junction, lol) that reminds me every day that Christmas is just around the corner, not really sure who came up with the great idea, but it definitely works for us all, it gives you this happy feeling whenever you see it, an almost childlike excitement about Christmas and all it entails. I am not exactly sure where I am celebrating Christmas yet, but I just love the rush, the fun, the joy and the merriment...a perfect way to end the year. And if you haven’t bought anyone a gift yet, go ahead and do so, prices are hitting the roof! I did not grow up having Christmas gifts put under the tree, with everyone gathered to open them, but I sure would like my kids to have that feeling someday, whatever you can do to make someone happy this season, just go right on and do it, trust me someone out there is also thinking of putting a smile on your face, so don’t break the cycle.
Wish I could send y’all Christmas gifts, but I cant...so I hope I have given you some reason to think of me as a friend this year, I hope we end the year as friend, because in more ways than one you were a part of 2010 I wouldn’t want to trade off. As we count down to a merry Xmas, know that my gift to you is my LOVE and FRIENDSHIP.
Its beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas!
For those of you who do not know the carol, now you do;
Rudolph the red nosed reindeer,
Had a very shinning nose
And if you ever saw him,
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeers,
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph,
Join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?
Then all the reindeers loved him,
As they shouted out with glee
Rudolph the red nosed reindeer,
You’ll go down in history
